Bo Porter and Jason Castro say Jake Elmore is the favorite to win tonight’s Dancing with the 'Stros. Elmore said he’s good, but watch out for Dallas Keuchel.
Elmore, Keuchel, Jose Altuve, Trevor Crowe and Jarred Cosart are participating in the event at the House of Blues, with money raised benefitting the Astros Foundation. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the competition starting at 7 p.m.
“Based on what I’ve seen, dancing on their own, I’m going to put my money on Elmore,” said Castro. “He’s pretty good and he’s definitely going to get into it, which is more than half of it.”
Porter, the Astros manager, agrees.
“From what I hear, Elmore cuts the rug pretty good,” said Porter. “He’s talking a good game.”
There should be a lot of talk from the Astros in attendance, who will help judge the event.
“There’s going to be smack talk, cat calls, there’s going to be everything,” said Elmore. “It’ll be fun, just having a good time with the guys. Just let loose and have fun with your teammates.”
The five players will be teamed with professional dancers. Keuchel said all five Astros can dance.
“We’re all pretty good,” said Keuchel. “I think we all got our own little twist on dances. There’s definitely going to be some heckling. That won’t bother me. That will motivate me.”
While others tab Elmore as the favorite, he downplays it, saying he does limited dancing.
“But I got some moves,” said Elmore. “We’ll see what happens. Dallas can dance a little.”
Keuchel has the right outlook on the event.
“You’re helping out the community and raising money,” said Keuchel. “Any time you’re doing that it’s going to be a fun event. The guys are going to have a good time with it.”
