Brett Wallace starts at third base for the Astros on Thursday, as Matt Dominguez has a day off in the starting lineup.
This is the second start at third base as an Astro this season for Wallace, who appeared in 10 games at third base this season for the Oklahoma City RedHawks, where he played first base in 40 games.
“I’m certainly ready for it, and it gives Matty a day off,” said Wallace. “He’s going to need days to give him a breather.
“He’s been great all year. I’m glad it’s something I can do to help the team. Play third, first base, DH, whatever it may be. I’m excited to be there.”
Wallace, who began his professional career as a third baseman, played third base some for the Astros and at Oklahoma City last year. Wallace also played the position this spring.
“It’s something I take pride in, and try to do them both (first base and third base) as well as I can and keep getting better every day,” said Wallace.
Thursday is Wallace’s 15th game and 14th start with the Astros in 2013. He has started 11 games at first base, two at third base and one as the designated hitter.
