Roger Clemens took advantage of his time in Kissimmee today to talk with the pitchers and catchers about the opportunity that they have with the team in its current state of reconstruction.
“I told them I’d be excited if I were around camp right now applying for a job,” Clemens said. “There’s a lot of openings.”
Clemens talked to the pitchers for about 15 minutes, stressing the mental aspect of the game, similar to how the game's greats talked to him when he first broke into the Major Leagues nearly 30 years ago.
“I was fortunate to have the opportunity to play with (Tom) Seaver early in my career,” Clemens said. “Great insight from the three or four times I had the opportunity to talk to Ted Williams.”
When Don Drysdale had his radio show way back when,” Clemens said. “He interviewed me for his radio show, and boy when he turned it off. Really good lecture for about 20 minutes, how he pitched.”
