Luhnow: 'The uniforms look terrific'
The Astros outrighted five players from their 40-man roster on Saturday morning.
Outfielders Brian Bogusevic and J.B. Shuck and pitchers Jorge De Leon, Chuckie Fick and Arcenio Leon were waived.
Bogusevic, De Leon and Shuck cleared waivers and will become free agents. The Astros assigned Fick to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Leon didn't clear waivers. He was claimed by the Brewers.
With the moves, the Astros' 40-man roster now stands at 31.
Bogusevic, 28, played in 146 games for the Astros and was the opening day right fielder. The lefty hit .203 with seven homers and 28 RBIs. He was a first-round pick by the Astros in 2005 and was a pitcher until the 2008 season.
Leon, who was claimed by the Brewers, spent his 2012 season with Double-A Corpus Christi, where he went 3-2 with two saves and a 4.38 ERA. It was his third straight season in Double A.
Fick pitched in 20 relief appearances for the Astros and had a 4.38 ERA. In 47 minor league appearances, he had three saves and a 5.09 ERA. Fick was picked up by the Astros off the wire in July. He'll join the organization's Triple-A roster.
De Leon played all season with Single-A Lancaster. He appeared in 40 games (14 starts) and went 2-9 with a 7.70 ERA.
Shuck hit .298 with 11 doubles and 33 RBIs in 115 games for Oklahoma City at Triple A last year. He was a sixth-rounder in the 2008 draft.
