The Astros are wasting no time looking for who they might draft next with the top pick.
As with the last two years, Houston will have the number-one overall pick come time for the draft. Carlos Rodon, a lefthanded pitcher at North Carolina State, is considered a top candidate to be that top pick.
According to Astros.com, the team is sending a group to meet with Rodon. Although not confirmed as to when this meeting will take place, the report suggests it could be as early as this week.
"We're going to meet with several guys," said Mike Elias, the team's director of amateur scouting, in the report. "We have a few meetings lined up this month, and he's on the list."
Last year, as a sophomore, Rodon went 10-3 with a 2.99 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 184 strikeouts in 132 1/3 innings.
