Bill Brown talks about "Deep in the Heart"
Hundreds of enthusiastic fans waited in line to get autographs from a handful of Astros legends before Saturday’s game against the Angels.
Bob Aspromonte, Enos Cabell, J.R. Richard, and Jose Cruz were excited to be at Minute Maid Park to sign copies of the first-ever book on Astros history.
Texas Sports Hall of Fame broadcaster and current Astros TV broadcaster Bill Brown and Astros Authentication Manager Mike Acosta were also on hand to sign copies of the book they co-authored, Deep in the Heart. It follows the history of the Astros organization from its beginnings as the Colt .45s, through the decades in the Astrodome and concludes with the 50th anniversary season celebrated last year in Minute Maid Park.
"It's been great. Just the chance to relive the history of the franchise and to see these guys in the flesh," Brown said
The book includes never-before-seen photographs and in-depth looks into the plays and players that have become integral parts of Astros history and lore.
"It was a long process," Brown said. "It involved work in about three different offseasons and interviewing players."
Deep in the Heart is available in team stores at Minute Maid Park as well as online.
