Six teams will compete in the Battle for Texas in the 2014 Houston College Classic at Minute Maid Park from Feb. 28-March 2.
The six-team tournament features hometown schools Rice University and the University of Houston, which will be making its first appearance in the tournament. The other four schools also hail from the state of Texas: Sam Houston State, TCU, Texas and Texas Tech. Four of the six participating teams -- Rice, TCU, Texas Tech and Texas -- are ranked nationally in the top 30 in the the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll.
This tournament, formerly known as the Astros Foundation College Classic, enters its 14th year at Minute Maid Park. It is regarded as one of the most competitive early-season college baseball tournaments in the country.
