The Astros have announced the call-ups of pitchers Chia-Jen Lo and Josh Zeid.
Lo makes the jump from Double-A Corpus Christi. In 17 games combined from both Class-A ball and Corpus, Lo had six saves and held batters to a .234 batting average. He has a combined ERA of 3.24 and 20 strikeouts in his 16.2 combined innings of work.
Zeid has been the closer at Oklahoma City. In that position, he converted 13 of 15 save opportunities. He also has a 4-1 record. In his 43.2 innings, Zeid has 53 strikeouts. Zeid has held hitters to a .231 batting average. Along with getting called up, Zeid's contract was selected by the Astros, meaning he has been added to the club's 40-man roster.
Both Lo and Zeid had strong spring trainings for the Astros. Lo had a 2.08 ERA while Zeid fashioned a 1.50 earned run average.
The Astros are sending Hector Ambriz down to Oklahoma City. The righthander has a 5.70 ERA in 43 relief appearances so far this season with the big club.
