The Houston Astros will continue their winter initiative to connect with fans when they embark on their 2013 CAREavan January 21-25. This initiative covers a large area, from parts of Houston to throughout central and South Texas and Oklahoma City. Astros players, alumni and front office staff will visit schools, hospitals and military bases and host free public autograph sessions at Academy Sports + Outdoors store locations.
The Astros are known for giving back to the community, so it is no surprise that several CAREavan stops are centered around the club’s main community focus areas: supporting cancer-related causes, organizations that support the military and youth baseball and softball.
Capping off the week-long CAREvan will be the annual FanFest, a winter baseball festival in and around Minute Maid Park, on Saturday, January 26 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. The festival will feature fun and interactive activities for kids, player autograph sessions and “Talkin’ Baseball” sessions, and it is free and open to the public.
