It was quite a treat when Bob Aspromonte stopped by the CSN Houston studio for an appearance on SportsTalk Live with host Kevin Eschenfelder.
Aspromonte was obtained by the Houston Colt .45's from the Los Angeles Dodgers in the original expansion draft on Oct. 10, 1961. "Aspro" immediately made his presence known in Houston and in professional baseball as one of the best defensive 3rd baseman in modern history.
Since retiring over 30 years ago, Aspromonte has been active in the community, and in addition to sharing baseball memories, he joined STL to talk about EYE BALL 2014 where he and his wife, Karen, are this year's honorees. All proceeds will benefit the medical and surgical services provided by Houston Eye Associates Foundation and the vision-screening and educational programs provided by Prevent Blindness Texas. Over $1.1 million has been raised since 2010 through annual EYE BALL events.
The 5th annual event will be held at the Hilton Post Oak Houston Hotel on Friday, Feb. 7.
