Carlos Correa and Mark Appel, the first overall pick in the last two June Amateur Drafts, both received non-roster invitations to the Astros spring training on Tuesday.

There were 20 minor league players given non-roster invites to Major League camp, including seven of the Astros top 10 prospects as ranked by MLB.com.

In addition to Correa and Appel will be first baseman Jonathan Singleton, outfielders George Springer, Delino DeShields Jr., Domingo Santana, and pitcher Mike Foltynewicz.

DeShields, the team's first round pick in the 2010 draft, will be an outfielder for the first time in spring training. He has spent his previous full seasons in the minor leagues at second base.

The other minor leaguers invited to the Major League camp are infielders Japhet Amador, Jonathan Meyer and Ronald Torreyes, outfielders Leo Heras, J.D. Martinez and Preston Tucker, catchers Rene Garcia, Tyler Heineman and Carlos Perez.

The pitchers include Jake Buchanan, Rhiner Cruz, Jorge DeLeon, Bobby Doran, Jason Stoffel, and Nick Topeano.

Pitchers and catchers reporting date to Kissimmee, Florida, is Feb. 15, while position players need to report by Feb. 19.
