Jose Altuve is getting recognized more and more for all he does on the baseball field.

On Tuesday, the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) named the Astros' second baseman its 2014 recipient of the Astros' Heart and Hustle Award.
Every year, one member of each team gets awarded with the honor. In a tweet, the MLBPAA said Altuve earned the Heart and Hustle Award through his "work both on and off the field."

Officially, the award "honors active players who demonstrate a passion for the game of baseball and best embody the values, spirit and tradition of the game."

An overall winner will be selected out of the pool of representatives from each team. In this case, Altuve will be the Astros' representative in that pool where an overall winner will be announced on Nov. 18, 2014. Astros' legend Craig Biggio won the overall award in 2006 and 2007.

Altuve is in the midst of a breakout season. Whereas he was already an All-Star in the past, this season has gone above and beyond. He currently leads the major leagues in hits (135) and leads the American League in average (.336) and stolen bases (41). He also leads the major leagues in multiple-hit games (42).
