LeBron, All-Stars jealous of Harden's beard

Friday is always the first day NBA All-Star Weekends kick it into full gear.

The NBA tipped things off with the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge practice. Then a press conference was held announcing the 2013 Naismith Memorial Baskeball Hall of Fame finalists. Legendary University of Houston coach Guy V. Lewis, who was also a finalist in 2003, is on this year's list of 12. Then All-Star Saturday participants were made available to the media followed by the Western Conference and Eastern Conference media days. And of course NBA Jam Session continues at George R. Brown Convention Center.

Elsewhere in Houston, Yao Ming was honored by Houston Mayor Annise Parker at the Julia Ideson Library. Also, more than 1,500 NBA family members joined volunteers, NBA partners adidas, Kia, Reliant, SAP, and State Farm and NBA community partners the Fifth Ward Community Redevelopment Corporation, Houston Food Bank, KaBOOM!, and Rebuilding Together for the NBA Cares All-Star Day of Service.  Projects included five home refurbishments, the construction of a new playground, and food sorting and packaging to support Houston residents in need.

Still to come, the highlights of NBA All-Star Friday – the Sprint NBA All-Star Celebrity Game at 6 p.m. and the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge at 8 p.m.

CSN Houston will have full coverage throughout the weekend.
