Yao Ming visits; Lin sets career high (Chinese)
In this edition of the Mandarin Minute, Howard Chen AKA 陳定豪 talks about how a special giant of a guest paid a visit to the Rockets on Tuesday.
Yao Ming stopped by during morning shootaround to check out the team he used to play for. He's in town for what he calls "family things" and will be in Houston for All-Star Weekend.
"After last year, people put a lot of pressure on him, either on the court or off the court," Yao answered when asked about Jeremy Lin's adjustment as a Houston Rocket. "He handled it well."
Speaking of those Rockets, they all had great games in a dominant 140-109 win over the Warriors.
Lin had 28 points, nine assists, and a career-high five three-pointers. Not only was this a personal NBA best for him, but this three-point performance was better than anything he produced during his Harvard days.
He was far from being the only Rocket who excelled. James Harden had 18 points and seven assists. Chandler Parsons had 16 points and eight assists. The Rockets hit an NBA record-tying 23 three-pointers.
It was important for the Rockets to get this win, seeing as the schedule up ahead is full of difficulty. They play the Heat on Wednesday, followed by the Blazers on Friday, the Kings on Sunday, the Warriors again next Tuesday, and then the Clippers round out their schedule before the All-Star break.
So with the win, the Rockets gained a little momentum for the tough stretch coming up.
