The Rockets had a 61-53 halftime lead at Detroit on Saturday night, with their biggest lead being 18 points.
Besides Dwight Howard's monstrous first half with 23 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks, another highlight of the first half was when Houston hit three 3-pointers in a row in the second quarter for a 44-27 lead. Aaron Brooks hit the first while Francisco Garcia nailed the second and third shots from beyond the arc.
But the Rockets are ailing. Jeremy Lin (back), Omer Asik (knee) and James Harden (ankle) were already out for the game, and Greg Smith (knee) and Pat Beverley left in the first half with injuries.
Beverley is out for the rest of the game after it was revealed on the CSN Houston game broadcast that he fractured his right hand, but Harden suited up for the second half and made himself available if needed.
