Sunday was a day of celebration for Dwight Howard.
He recorded 20 points and 22 rebounds in the Rockets' 98-88 win over his former team, the Orlando Magic, on Sunday night at Toyota Center. It was also his 28th birthday.
“I knew he was going to play good,” Rockets forward Chandler Parsons said after the game. “With the whole Orlando thing, I know he was ready for tonight. He’s a big kid, so I’m glad he enjoyed himself tonight and had a good birthday.”
Indeed he did as the celebration continued well after the game ended.
Howard's teammates and friends gathered at Lucky Strike downtown for a surprise birthday party. As Howard entered the room, his teammates bombarded him with silly string. Jeremy Lin posted an Instagram video with the hash tag (see below), #sillystring, creating a Twitter trend in Houston Sunday night.
Check out the attached video above for exclusive video from inside the party.
At one point, Howard grabbed the mic for his usual monologue straight into the camera as he said how surprised he was and that the party was "bananas" before showing off a few dance moves. On cue, his teammate Patrick Beverley stole him away to hit the dance floor.
As you can see from these tweets, there is much love for Howard from his teammates. A few even posted pictures from the party.
