Dwight on Stan Van Gundy's influence

CSNHouston Staff

Dwight Howard had a huge choice to make this summer.

Eventually, he chose to come to Houston and join the Rockets. And some advice from a former coach might have played a role.

The following is from Biller Reiter of Fox Sports:

Van Gundy became head coach of the Magic in 2007. Howard had been in the league, with the Magic, since 2004. The pair spent five seasons together in Orlando. Those were the best seasons in Howard's career. During those years, Howard averaged 20.6 points and 13.9 rebounds per game.

And apparently, the two still keep in touch. And that might have helped the Rockets land their big man.
