Rockets assistant coach Kelvin Sampson has left the Rockets for personal reasons. His mother died Friday night and he headed home this morning to be with his family, according to tweets by Jonathan Feigen, Rockets beat reporter for the Houston Chronicle, and Jason Friedman, Rockets.com reporter.

The Rockets are currently on a four-game road trip. After a loss in Atlanta Friday night, they are in Washington, D.C. to play the Wizards Saturday night.
