Douglas on White: 'He's still our teammate'
Rocket players are wishing nothing but the best for Royce White.
White was suspended Sunday "for refusing to provide services as required by his Uniform Player Contract." The statement released on Sunday by GM Daryl Morey reflected that the team was still working on coming together on a resolution with White.
White, the rookie from Iowa State, suffers from anxiety disorder. He missed the first week of training camp, came back, but then left the team early in the regular season before the regular season began. He hasn't been back with the team since. The Rockets officially sent White to their D-League affiliate of Rio Grande Valley on Dec. 29. He refused the assignment the next day.
"We're all supporting him," Jeremy Lin said. "Whenever he and the Rockets come to the deal that works for both of them ... I mean, obviously, we as a team hope that it'll happen soon, but to be honest, I don't really know much about the situation."
"He's still our teammate," Toney Douglas added. "He's still on our team. Honestly, I just pray for him every day. I hope that, whatever situation he's got going on, it gets better."
