Highlights: Rockets get slammed in Game 1

OKLAHOMA CITY -- After a rough start, the Rockets recovered enough to tie it, only to have the Thunder go on a massive spurt to end the second quarter and continuing into the third quarter.

First battle of the series/war goes to the Thunder 120-91.

The Rockets now have plenty to work on for Game 2 in their two days of practice. James Harden led the way with 20 points. OKC was led by Kevin Durant’s 24 points and Russell Westbrook’s 19 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds.
The Rockets were within two points, 46-44, late in the second quarter. The Thunder responded with a 14-1 run and scored 14 of the half’s final 17 points to take a 13-point lead at the break. Ultimately, that run determined the game’s end result.
The Rockets shot 33-91 from the field. This number is somewhat skewed considering the team didn’t hit a field goal until over half the first quarter was done. That’s an 0-9 start in the first six-plus minutes.
The Rockets shot 17-24 from the line. The usual suspects shot well. The usual suspects who struggle from the line struggled.
Chandler Parsons had a follow slam after Patrick Beverley stole the ball but missed on his attempt. Omer Asik also had a dunk shortly thereafter.
Game 2 happens on Wednesday after two days off in between for the Rockets to practice. They’ll head back to Houston for two days of workouts before flying back to Oklahoma City on Tuesday.
