A lifelong dream comes closer to fulfillment on Wednesday when Taylor Crowley sings the national anthem before the Rockets/Bucks game.

Crowley, a Houston native, is currently a hairstylist at a Rice Village salon, but it's her vocals that have garnered her more national acclaim.

In 2004, when she was still attending UTSA, Crowley tried out for Project PopStar, a talent search led by Beyonce's father, Mathew Knowles, to find Houston's next  pop star. Crowley won the competition.

Attempts to parlay that exposure gradually fizzled out, but the dream remains alive.

Next month, Crowley plans on trying out for "X-factor," a show searching for the next global superstar.

And on Wednesday, Crowley's dreams take the NBA stage in front of Red Nation at the Toyota Center when she sings "The Star-Spangled Banner."
