McHale: 'I thought (Asik) was going to be here'
Despite the Rockets' self-imposed deadline which arrived Thursday, it appears the team has halted their efforts to trade unhappy center Omer Asik.
Per multiple reports from ESPN and Yahoo Sports, Rockets general manager Daryl Morey has informed other teams and Asik's agent that the team is no longer pursuing deals for the 4th year pro.
Boston, Cleveland and Philadelphia were among several teams said to be making progress in discussions.
The NBA trading deadline is February 20.
Asik has not played since Dec. 2, he has been out with a right thigh contusion, which has also caused discomfort in his knee.
Rockets head coach Kevin McHale said both before and after the game that Asik was feeling better and getting closer to returning to action.
The Rockets are practicing today before leaving later Thursday afternoon for games Friday in Indiana and Detroit on Saturday.
