Rockets know what's most important (Chinese)
This edition of the Rockets Report talks about how the Rockets had their priorities straight. They were thinking about Kevin McHale and about life.
No matter how difficult the schedule was, the team made the trip to Wednesday morning's funeral for Sasha McHale. Sasha had passed away last Saturday afternoon at the tender age of 23.
The Rockets had resolved to win the Raptors game for McHale. They did that. Afterwads, McHale texted his players to express his appreciation.
As for the Raptors game itself, Jeremy Lin scored 16 points and had 10 assists. Kelvin Sampson said it was Lin's best game of the year because of the swagger that he played with. Sampson said Lin started regaining that swagger in the Rockets' game against the Knicks.
But the Rockets had no time to rest afterwards.
They immediately boarded a plane for Minnesota to attend Sasha McHale's funeral. Later that night, they had the game against the title-contending Thunder. With Chandler Parsons out with a shoulder injury, it was too much. The Rockets lost 120-98. In that game, Jeremy Lin did okay with six points and 8 assists. It wasn't as great a performance as he had against the Raptors, but it was okay. For James Harden, his night was a struggle. Sure, he had 17 points, but he endured through a 3-16 performance.
All in all, though, it was just inspirational to see the Rocket players had such a deep relationship with Kevin McHale.
