The Rockets’ five-game winning streak came to an end as they pretty much got Roger Mason’d, 88-79.
Roger Mason Jr. came off the bench to score 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting in 16 minutes. James Harden had his 14th straight game with at least 25 points, setting a new franchise record.
However, no other Rocket scored in double figures. In the fourth quarter, the Rockets only scored 10 points after leading by 10 heading into the quarter.
Turning point
The Rockets were up 69-59 heading into the fourth quarter. The Hornets proceeded to go on a 22-2 run to completely reverse field on the game and take control with a 81-71 lead with about four minutes left to go.
From the field
The Rockets shot 30-for-75 for 40 percent. Especially in the fourth quarter, it seemed the shots just wouldn’t go down. Houston was 9-27 from three-point land.
At the line
The Rockets were solid here, shooting 10-for-13 from the stripe. The number did seem lower than usual though. For example, Harden got to the line for six attempts compared to his usual double-digit effort there.
Highlight reel
There weren’t many on Wednesday night. Harden had an early fastbreak flush. Omer Asik also had a dunk
Up next
The Rockets get a day off before they play in Boston on Friday. The Celtics have won four straight games to go back over .500. Of course, the Rockets beat them earlier this season at the Toyota Center 101-89 on Dec. 14.
