Rockets assign Canaan, Covington to RGV

The Rockets have assigned guard Isaiah Canaan and forward Robert Covington to their D-League team, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

Canaan, the 6-0 guard from Murray State, was the Rockets' 34th overall pick in the 2013 draft.
In 132 games in four years at Murray State, he averaged 15.5 points, 2.9 assists and 2.8 rebounds. He was a career 41.9 percent shooter from 3-point range at Murray State.

Covington, the 6-9 forward from Tennessee State, joined the Rockets for the 2013 Orlando Pro Summer League, where he averaged 12.4 points, five rebounds and 2.4 steals per game.

Covington went undrafted but averaged 14.8 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.5 steals and 1.3 blocks per game in four years at Tennessee State.
