According to multiple reports, Sam Hinkie is leaving the Rockets to become the Sixers' President and General Manager.

Hinkie had been a finalist for the 76ers' job a year ago, a job that went to Tony DiLeo. These reports (including both CSNPhilly.com and Yahoo! Sports) say Hinkie will now replace DiLeo.

Hinkie has had a major role in shaping the Rockets, working closely with Rockets GM Daryl Morey. Like Morey, Hinkie is known for his expertise in analytics. He was promoted by the Rockets to Executive VP of Basketball Operations in 2010. He had been named the team's Vice President of Basketball Operations in 2007. Before that, Hinkie was a Special Assistant to the General Manager, where he worked closely with Carroll Dawson.

The Sixers currently have several big decisions on the agenda, including finding a new head coach to replace Doug Collins and also the pending free agency of Andrew Bynum.
