The Rockets are ready to make a splash during this upcoming free agency period, according to a report.

Longtime Philadelphia media presence Howard Eskin tweeted that the Rockets "are ready to offer" Andrew Bynum a contract after this season is over.

Bynum is under contract with the 76ers right now but will become a free agent this offseason. That's where the Rockets might fit in.

With plenty of cap room, it stands to reason that the Rockets will be players in the upcoming free agency period and Bynum will be one of the biggest targets on the market.

There was already the thought that the Rockets would go after Dwight Howard, who's contract with the Lakers will run out after this season and they still might, but Bynum is an option too. The Rockets were reportedly interested in both big men before this season.

This season, since joining the Sixers, Bynum's knees haven't allowed him to play a single minute but he still hopes to play this season.

With the Lakers in 60 games started last season, Bynum averaged 18.7 points and 11.8 rebounds per game.
