Chandler Parsons has been selected for the BBVA Rising Stars Challenge portion of NBA All-Star Weekend going on this February in Houston.
The Rockets forward is among a pool of 18 players selected out of the league's premiere rookies and sophomores. Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal will be general managers of Team Chuck and Team Shaq, respectively, and will select teams of nine from the pool of 18 next Thursday, February 7. After that, starting lineups for this game will be chosen by the fans online and on their mobile devices.
The Rising Stars game itself will be on February 15.
In his second season in the NBA, Parsons has solidified himself as one of the top leaders on the team. He is averaging 14.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.15 steals in 46 starts. He becomes the first Rocket to take part in this game since Aaron Brooks and Luis Scola were sophomores for the 2009 version.
