Chandler Parsons after the win over Jazz
The Houston Rockets huge comeback 104-93 win over Utah, was largely led by the big comeback effort from Chandler Parsons.
Parsons 24 points, 12 rebounds and six assists were all team-leading figures. Each total was also more than his combined totals over the first two games.
"I knew this was a game we should win," Parsons said. "I got it going a little bit in the second quarter.
"I've been struggling a little bit these first two games, but I'm going to go through that as a player," he added. "Everybody goes through it, but my teammates believed in me and I believed in myself and this was a huge win for us."
He kept the Rockets from being even further down in the first half, pacing the team with 20 points, the same total his teammates produced. But even in the second half when he only scored two points, he was instrumental in the 20-4 run that tied the game to start the third quarter and he was the catalyst in the fourth quarter that turned the game in the Rockets favor.
In a four-minute stretch of the final quarter beginning with the game tied at 85, Parsons scored or assisted on four of the Rockets next six scores and by the end of it, the Rockets led by 99-90.
It started with Parsons driving into the lane and finding Jeremy Lin wide open for a 3-pointer. Parsons would tip in a Lin missed layup seconds later. He followed that up with assists to James Harden and Francisco Garcia.
"We weren't playing our style of basketball," Parsons said. "I'm glad that we fixed that in the second half."
