Rockets win w/out Harden; thanks, Taiwan! (Chinese)
In this edition of the Mandarin Minute, Howard Chen AKA 陳定豪 discusses how the Rockets won without James Harden and also thanks Taiwan for gifts recently received.
The team found out shortly before Saturday tip-off that James Harden would miss the game with a sore right foot. This was a flare-up of the same injury suffered February 13 against the Warriors when Harden stepped on David Lee's foot as he drove to the basket.
In his absence, the Rockets stepped up their efforts as a team. Jeremy Lin, Chandler Parsons, and Francisco Garcia each scored 15 points to lead the way. Defensively, the Rockets really limited the Clippers, especially in the third quarter. In those 12 minutes, the Clippers only made six field goals and scored 13 points. The Rockets won fairly comfortably, beating the Clippers on both ends of the floor.
I also want to take a moment to thank the fans in Taiwan. I was given a gift bag on Saturday night with more Jeremy Lin souvenirs from Taiwan: a towel, some little Jeremy Lin Knicks toys, a neat Lin/Houston Rockets cartoon drawing, and a hat emblazoned with the Chinese character in both Lin's name and my name.
I'm very thankful and this all kind of makes me blush to receive such kindness from the land that produced my parents and where pretty much all my relatives currently reside.
Much love to Taiwan. And thank you again for the gifts!!!
