Rockets head coach Kevin McHale returned to practice on Tuesday after being away from the team for a week following the passing of his mother last Tuesday evening. He will coach the team tomorrow night when they face the Chicago Bulls.

"It's nice to be back," McHale said. "Plus it was 28 below when I got up to northern Minnesota. I don't what it is out there (pointing outside), but I know it's not 28 below."

Assistant coach Kelvin Sampson has handled practices and was acting head coach for the Rockets three games on their recently completed road trip.

"It's good to see his (McHale's) face, definitely missed him. I'm glad he's back," guard Pat Beverley said. "He came right in talking about the game and how he was seeing things from his point if view away from the game, which was good for this team."
