McGrady signs with Spurs

Tracy McGrady is set to make his return to the NBA, signing with the San Antonio Spurs.

McGrady will be eligible to play in the postseason because he has not played for another NBA team this year.

McGrady spent the season playing for Quingdao of the Chinese Basketball League, where he averaged 31 minutes, scoring 25 points per game.

If Houston finishes the season as the seventh seed in the NBA’s western conference, McGrady and the Spurs would be the Rockets’ first round opponent.

McGrady played for Houston from 2004 to midway through the 2009-2010 season when he was dealt to the New York Knicks. An enigma to Rockets fans in his five-plus seasons in Houston, McGrady averaged 25.7 points per game his first season with Houston, but that total dropped every year with the Rockets, eventually falling to 15.6 points in his final full season with the team.
