Jeremy Lin updates his status for Game 5
Still not ready to declare himself fit to play in Game 5 on Wednesday, Rockets guard Jeremy Lin was thankful that his teammates provided him an opportunity to take the floor again if his health improves.
“The guys played so hard and so well and they deserved it,” Lin said of his teammates’ effort in Game 4. “I was definitely happy to see that and it gives me a little more time to heal.”
Lin worked out on the side Tuesday, away from the team, testing his shoulder that was better, but still not ready for game action. The frustration is building for Lin, who was injured during the playoffs last year when he was with the Knicks. He wants to play but hasn’t yet reached the point where he can.
“I wasn’t that close (Monday) night. I felt like when I woke up, unless it gets drastically better I probably wouldn’t be able to (play),” Lin said. “(Tuesday) it felt better. It’s just time, you know. Its’ one of those things where you have to wait it out.”
The Rockets gave Lin a reprieve by holding on to beat Oklahoma City to force Game 5 on Wednesday night. He’s still not saying whether another stay from elimination will be necessary before he can return to the court.
“If it feels like it felt in Game 3, then I can’t do it,” Lin said. “But if it’s better than that, then there’s a chance.”
