The Jeremy Lin Foundation is getting the All-Star party started with a charity gala benefitting the city's youth.
It'll take place on February 14th at Minute Maid Park. Lin, his Rockets teammates, along with more NBA stars and celebrities, will be on hand as the event kicks off the MAD (Making a Difference) project. The gala is raising money for three selected Houston community organizations in hopes of giving these organizations more exposure as they do work to support the Foundation's mission of helping youths through hope, leadership, and empowerment.
Basketball, air hockey, video games, billiards, and ping pong are among the planned activities.
This event is not open to the public, but you can take part in helping these kids who benefit from this event through donations.
Lin is averaging 12.0 points and 6.0 assists in his first season with the Rockets. His story of rising from having no Division I scholarship, to going undrafted, to the Linsanity craze last year in New York took the world by storm. A movie documenting this rise, "Linsanity," is currently at the Sundance Film Festival taking place in Utah.
NBA All-Star week in Houston kicks off on February 14 and is capped off with the game on February 17.
