Highlights: Rockets routed by Pacers
The Rockets watched Dwight Howard carry the team early, but with nobody joining him, a close game quickly got away from them in Indiana as the Pacers routed them, 114-81. It was easily the Rockets worst loss of the season. The loss drops the Rockets to 17-10.
Howard was outstanding, scoring 19 points on 9-of-16 shooting, with most of that coming against one of the league’s premier defenders, Roy Hibbert. He also led all players with 12 rebounds. But the Rockets shot miserably.
They shot 38 percent overall. They made only four of their 22 3-pointers and were terrible at the free throw, shooting just 54.2 percent (13-24).
Paul George led six Pacers in double-figures with 24 points and added nine rebounds.
Houston’s 81 points were also a season low.
The game was over when
The Pacers came out of the locker room at halftime on fire. They made 10 of their first 12 shots of the third quarter and ran away from the Rockets. During that time, Houston went 4-of-11 from the field with three turnovers. The Pacers increased their 12-point halftime lead to 26 in the first 7:22 of the second half.
Numbers of the night
James Harden was just 3-of-14 from the field. It was the tenth time in his Rockets career, he’s connected on 25 percent of his shots or less, with a minimum of 10 attempts.
The Rockets will travel to Detroit to face the Pistons on Saturday night. Houston has won their past five games against the Pistons and ten of their last 14. However, the Pistons are a drastically different team than in year’s past. Their two main acquisitions, Brandon Jennings and Josh Smith, are their two leading scorers. Both teams got whacked on Friday, the Pistons had a 20-point lead against the Bobcats, but gave up 41 fourth quarter points and lost 116-106
