Rockets Talk: McHale, Asik and defense
Rockets acting head coach Kelvin Sampson said Chandler Parsons looked good at Wednesday's practice and is planning on him continuing to play through his back spasms.
Parsons missed two games last week, both losses, before returning for games against Golden State and Orlando, both wins.
Sampson also said he there was no change with Omer Asik's availability. He said Asik was getting better after watching him workout in the morning, he thought he was getting closer. He also added Asik will not be playing on this trip. The Rockets play at Portland on Thursday, at Golden State on Friday and at Sacramento on Sunday.
Greg Smith has been out with a right knee sprain since he was injured against the New York Knicks on Nov. 14.
"He's really close," Sampson said of Smith's return. "He and D-Mo (Donatas Motiejunas) played one-on-one for at least 30 minutes. Greg looked good.
"I thought there was a chance he may be able to play tomorrow night (at Portland) or Friday (at Sacramento)," Sampson said. "But if they're saying Sunday, then he'll be good and ready then."
Guard Jeremy Lin said after Tuesday's practice he will return to action against Portland.
