Adam Wexler on the Rockets' injury woes
Following their three-game road trip to the West Coast, when they lost two of three games, the Rockets had five players miss the days practice.
Jeremy Lin (back spasms), Chandler Parsons (back spasms), Terrence Jones (flu), Omer Asik (right thigh contusion) and James Harden (sprained left ankle) all missed Monday's practice.
The Rockets next game is Wednesday at Toyota Center against the Chicago Bulls. Rockets assistant coach Kelvin Sampson said the team expects head coach Kevin McHale back tomorrow and he expects him to coach Wednesday's game.
As far as the players availability for that game, it's a mixed bag.
"James is not as bad as we thought," Sampson said. "James is a stud. I've always thought pain was an opinion. Some people have a high opinion of it, some people have a low opinion of it.
"James has a very low opinion of pain. You know it takes a lot to keep him out. James will be back sooner than you think."
Harden sprained his left ankle in Sunday night's loss at Sacramento,
Sampson was less confident about Lin's return on Wednesday.
"Jeremy's back is in bad shape," Sampson said. "He could not sit down on the flight back last night. He's hurting."
Sampson did say he expected Parsons to play on Wednesday.
