Delfino returning for Rockets' NYE game
After missing two games with food poisoning, Carlos Delfino says he's ready to play Monday against the Hawks.
"Yeah, I think I'll be able to play," Delfino said. "I mean, I want to try.
"Watching the team struggle against great teams like San Antonio and Oklahoma City... it's not easy. You want to be able to try to help the team, so it's good to be back and try to give them a push."
"It gives us some stability," Kevin McHale said. "It gives us a guy off the bench that has played long minutes in the NBA before, has played a lot of big games with his national team, and has been around. Carlos doesn't usually get into much of a panic mode and I think, the last couple of games, we had a lot of turnovers. We could've used Carlos' steadying hand."
According to his Twitter, Delfino wrote in Spanish that he contracted the food poisoning after having a meal with his good friend, Manu Ginobili, at the Ginobili residence, when the Rockets visited San Antonio. He elaborated Monday on what he ate, saying the only things different he ate than any other during that meal were some sausage and some M&M's. Delfino did say Ginobili felt badly for what happened.
So the next time Ginobili comes down and eats with the Delfinos?
"Maybe next time, when we play against them, I'll tell my wife to put a little sausage in there," Delfino joked.
