Camby: 'It's all about being a team player'
Marcus Camby's second tour of duty with the Rockets is very different than the first time around.
The big man signed with the Rockets in the offseason as Houston continues to piece together a team that is expected to be one of the Western Conference's top contenders.
"I think this team we have assembled now and the team I was on before - it's like night and day with the talent that we have here," Camby said. "In Dwight (Howard) and James (Harden) and the guys that have experienced a lot, like Chandler (Parsons), who gained a lot more experience, I think this team will be a whole lot better."
What's also different is Camby's role. It has gone from the big man in charge to being the big mentor in a solid supporting cast.
"I just want to come in and just be held accountable for whatever Coach (Kevin McHale) needs me to do," he said. "I'm a guy who's played a lot of minutes in a lot of years in this league. I know my role has changed a lot over the years and I've come to accept that and I'm fine with that. I just want to be around a good group of guys. a great organization, and a great fanbase and I couldn't find any place better than Houston.
"It's all about being a team player and just finding your niche in this league. This'll be my 18th year and not too many people can say that, so as each year goes on, I just try to savor every moment."
